Acute Mountain Sickness (AMS)

AMS is the affect of high altitude on those who climbs above 3,600 meter too rapidly. AMS also is known as altitude sickness (AS). It affects rapidly to those who have respiratory problems and aged people. Early symptoms of AMS umbrage much as headache, lethargy, anorexia (loss of appetite), shortness of breath and sleeplessness. Even being strong, fit and young cannot be helped. So, do not ignore these warnings, as serious symptoms can be caused of death within a few hours. Medicine and oxygen can be provided, a doctor is available. Sometimes, it couldn't be helped client must go down, even if given treatment.
For as information, contact to Khunde, Pheriche and Manag if you are traveling in Khumbu and Annapurna region. Though hospitals are available with good doctors, to reduce or avoid, AS you should walk slowly with frequent rest. Do not move too fast or in too high, if you feel unwell, retreat to a lower altitude immediately. It will save your life.
